Alba Berlin has suffered the sixth defeat in a row in the basketball Euroleague.
The German champion experienced a debacle against Olympiakos Piraeus at home with 60:93 (35:45). The Bundesliga team remains bottom of the table. Louis Olinde was the best Berlin thrower with 16 points against the Greek champions and leaders in the premier class.
Piraeus early clearly better
From the start Alba was under pressure from the Greeks. The hosts ran after a deficit from the first minute. In the middle of the first quarter, the hosts came back to 10:12, but the Berliners had a hard time finding good throwing positions at all. Piraeus scored better, got more rebounds and also worked better defensively. At the beginning of the second quarter, the gap had grown to 21 points.
But after that, the Berliners won more balls, and the throws were finally made. After the change of sides, it was only nine points behind at 41:50. But that was the end of the race to catch up. Alba now collapsed completely and conceded a 2:22 run in the third quarter. The Berliners never recovered from this and ended up suffering their heaviest home defeat on the international stage.
