The umpteenth knockout of Molin’s team, which in Turkey wastes a +10 in the final, costs the arithmetic elimination
The thirteenth knockout in Eurocup sanctions the arithmetic elimination of Trento. Coach Molin’s team plays evenly and remains in the lead for a long time, but the victory remains a chimera: only one victory from the beginning of 2022 to today against 17 defeats, 13 of which in a row with a worried negative streak that does not hint at close. In the end, exulting is the Ankara of the ex-Sassari Clemmons.
Yet Trento starts well, dragged by its captain Forray, author of ten of the 15 starting points. The other five are realized by Reynolds, another player who contributes to the good start in which the Eagle is ahead until the final minutes of the period, when Ankara recovers and goes forward, closing with Clemmons’ triple (22-18 after ten minutes) . Flaccadori’s triple seems to be a good sign, but then Trento loses the compass, as is often the case this season, and in a few minutes is down by ten (31-21). Two Clemmons free throws before the interval set the score at 40-33 for Ankara. Trento comes out of the locker room determined and with the triples of Flaccadori and Reynolds finds parity at 42 and with Caroline the great protagonist overtakes by extending to +10 (47-57). Ankara licks its wounds and returns to the office, closing the fourth with a 7-0 run that brings it back to -6 (54-59). Trento loses three balls in attack with Flaccadori allowing the hosts first impact at a 62 draw and then regain the lead with Gulaslan’s archery. It is Dawkins who breaks the game with five consecutive points that are worth +6 (72-66). Bradford tries to give hope, but once again Trento has to surrender in the final.
Ankara: Dawkins 17, Clemmons and Terrel 13
Trento: Caroline 15, Reynolds and Flaccadori 13
