The Düsseldorf women’s basketball team lived up to their role as favourites: In the 3×3 final, the Rhineland women clearly won.

The top favorites from Düsseldorf have defended their championship title in 3×3 basketball. In the final on Saturday (July 8th, 2023) at the home game on Düsseldorf’s Burgplatz, the team led by Ama Lemonie Owusua Degbeon won against Birdgang Freiburg by a clear 16:10.

Freiburg keeps up for a long time

In a tight final on Düsseldorf’s Burgplatz, Freiburg kept up for a long time. Düsseldorf with Degbeon, Sarah Luise Polleros, Britta Christin Daub and Jennifer Crowder was ahead the whole time, but Freiburg always stayed close. Even after a 10:5 3.30 minutes before the end of the nine-minute game, Freiburg was able to shorten the gap again (11:8). In the last minute, however, the routine from Düsseldorf prevailed. Crowder set the final point with an acclaimed two from a distance.

Goettingen wins bronze

In the game for third place, the Göttingen-Steppers had beaten the Cologne team by 18:13. The Göttingen women around national player Theresa Simon, Thalia Kretschmar, Meike Oevermann and Elisa Mevius dominated the game from the start and with Simon also had the most accurate athlete in their ranks: The 24-year-old convinced with six points and five rebounds.
