Basketball: Brose Bamberg maintains playoff chances

Former basketball champion Brose Bamberg has returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga and kept his playoff chances.

After three bankruptcies in a row, the Franconians kept in touch with the eighth and last place in the playoffs with a convincing 81:73 (36:51) victory in the southern duel with the favored MHP giants Ludwigsburg.

Ludwigsburg, on the other hand, missed the chance to jump to fourth place. The top four main round teams have home advantage in the playoffs.

In view of the fact that they were 18 points behind, Bamberg was threatened with their ninth home defeat and a decisive damper on their playoff hopes. But in the last quarter, the former series champion turned the match after a 62:72 with a final sprint to the 76:72 lead and brought his victory over time.

The hosts’ best pitcher was Gerel Simmons with 15 points. In the Giants, Prentiss Hubb stood out with 17 points.
