After a weak first quarter, Alba Berlin won 100:77 in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) on Saturday (01/28/2023) against the Merlins Crailsheim.
After the BBL leader was still 16:25 behind after the first quarter with nine missed three-point throws, Berlin got serious in the second round. Alba played more purposefully, more concentrated and now also put in his long-distance shots. A nine-point deficit became an eleven-point lead by the break.
After that, the favorite didn’t let up. 18 seconds before the end, John Mattisseck scored 100 points with a successful shot. The best thrower from Berlin was Tim Schneider with 14 points. At Crailsheim, Maurice Stuckey hit six of his seven three-point attempts and scored 18 points.
With the ninth win in a row, Alba remains in first place ahead of Baskets Bonn, who play in Bayreuth on Sunday. After four wins in a row, Crailsheim suffered a defeat and remains twelfth.
Rostock successful again
League newcomers Rostock Seawolves took another step away from the relegation zone with a 79:77 home win against Mitteldeutsche BC. In the second win in a row, Derrick Alston Jr. put up the most points for the hosts with 20 points. With their eighth win of the season, Rostock moved up to ninth place.
The Baskets Oldenburg remain on course for the playoffs with a 75:71 win over the giants Ludwigsburg. Lower Saxony caught up an 18-point deficit.
