The Würzburg Baskets celebrated a prestigious success in the Basketball Bundesliga on Friday evening (09.02.24) and consolidated their place in the playoff ranks. The Würzburgers clearly won the Frankenderby against the Bamberg Baskets on matchday 20 with 104:65 (57:35) and underlined the new balance of power in the region.
This season, Würzburg could be ahead of Bamberg at the end of the main round for the first time. The nine-time German champions are currently only in twelfth place with a record of seven wins and 13 defeats, while Würzburg (13:6) is fifth. Isaiah Washington was the best scorer of the duel with 20 points, while center Ej Onu (16) was the guests’ most successful scorer.

Meanwhile, the Löwen Braunschweig achieved their fourth win in a row with a 94:76 (53:42) against bottom team MLP Academics Heidelberg and thus jumped to tenth place in the play-in for the time being.
