Basketball: 15-year-old provides BBL record

At just 15 years, nine months and 28 days, Kristian Ortelli from former series champion Brose Bamberg set a record in the basketball Bundesliga.

The teenager became the youngest player since the digital data collection for the 1998/99 season thanks to his performance in the 97:78 in his own hall against s.Oliver Würzburg.

Shortly before the end of the Franconia derby, the guard received final instructions from coach Oren Amiel, a slap on the back and was allowed to spend the last 40 seconds of the game on the floor.

Martin Kalu (then Rasta Vachta) had set the previous youth record in the 20/21 season at the age of 16 years and nine days.

However, Bamberg had to cope with a personnel setback even before the game against Würzburg in front of 731 spectators. National player Patrick Heckmann will be out for several months due to a foot operation.

The 29-year-old will miss the two World Cup qualifiers against Israel (February 25 and 28). The winger was only able to play under syringes recently.

According to the information, an unstable bone fragment was removed from Heckmann and a tendon was reconstructed on the bone.
