For five innings, the pitchers dominated and no runs were scored. But in the top of the sixth inning, Kyle Schwarber broke open the game for the Phillies with a homerun to give his team an 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Astros hit back, literally. With a phenomenal home run (he hit the ball 137 meters), Yordan Alvarez brought in three points for his team and the ‘world title’ within reach. Shortly afterwards, Christian Vázquez extended the Astros’ lead to 4-1. The Phillies were then unable to turn the game around and drag out a decisive seventh game.
Houston Astros became MLB champions for the first time in 2017. That title is controversial, because it later turned out that the Astros had illegally copied communication gestures from opponents on the field. Last year, the team from Texas also played in the World Series, but then the Houston Astros lost to Atlanta Braves.
