Bas Smit should have just gotten off his VIP deck on the evening that his Amsterdam Summer concert went completely wrong, says Privé star journalist Jan Uriot. “And running bar services!”
It will go down in history as the Fyre Festival of the polder: the Amsterdam Summer Concert by Bas Smit and Nicolette van Dam. During the edition of last Saturday there was enormous chaos; people had to queue for hours for drinks, dangerous situations arose on the stairs and people were furious.
Missed opportunity
Even during the concert, Bas and Nicolette were confronted with hundreds of angry reactions on social media, but they just stayed in the VIP area all evening.
A missed opportunity, according to Privé star journalist Jan Uriot. “What he did wrong: When the messages came in through the socials that there were complaints in the field, he should have walked up on the podium, picked up the microphone and said, ‘Guys, what’s going on? I hear there’s no wine and no beer, I’m coming down now!’”
help
Bas should have just helped in the catering, along with his VIP supporters, Jan thinks. “Like: ‘Nicolette is coming with me, a whole team is coming, everyone off that VIP deck, we’re going to help at that bar!’ Then you at least show your good will. He has not done that.”
The victims of Bas and Nicolette can be compensated, but then they have to go to such an event of this two again. “You just have to feel like it, because my friends Marit, Mieke and Andy have said: ‘I will never go to Bas’s party again.’ I can also imagine that. They are still very angry.”
happy way
The hysterical behavior of Bas is also getting on the nerves of Telegraaf presenter Pim Sedee in the section What does Jan think?† “What’s the matter with him? Or is he always like this?”
Jan: “It’s a happy way. Let me keep it at that. Overenthusiastic.”
