Extreme faker
Her followers have responded en masse, Yvonne says in her podcast The Juice Show. “I just had that on the side told, but my DM explodes. No one was talking about John anymore. No: ‘Bas Smit?!?!?!’. It really wasn’t normal. ‘I knew it’, people said.”
Co-host Mark Koster, who has already had a big fight with Bas, then: “But shall we talk about that, about that man? Now if you have one faker you… He’s an extreme faker, isn’t he? Or is it a friend of yours? You’re always pretty lenient about him.”
Happy egg
Yvonne spared Bas for a long time. “But you have to tell it like it is,” she says about the juice over Bas. “Faker, yes… I think he really is such a happy egg, but yes, I do know he is not as loyal as people think…”
Mark: “No, not even getting married yet, but I also think that he… Yesterday we saw each other for something else and then you told me that he can really bend all the media people to his will. He manipulates the showbiz media quite a bit.”
Yvonne: “He actually has so much power in Amsterdam, in terms of… Yes, how do I explain that?”
Mark: “Well try to explain that properly, because I find it interesting how he does it.”
Live sour
Yvonne: “I don’t think people know that at all. He’s actually a really great entrepreneur, too. And very, yes, qua… He knows everyone and everyone likes him too. So he has a lot of power because of that, so to speak. Because he knows everyone. And it is quite high in the food chain.”
Bas uses that power in the wrong way, according to the juice queen. “I have also heard from people who get in his way that they are having a hard time. Very sour. I have sometimes understood that.”
She continues: “Sometimes there were people who confronted him about something on Twitter or something and then received really very personal messages from him like: if you don’t delete this, I will send my lawyer to you. Just about something very small.”
‘Lives of image’
Not surprising that Bas tries to stop negativity, says Mark. “It’s a man who lives off his image.”
Yvonne: “Of course.”
Mark: “I think he is only concerned with himself.”
Yvonne: “Yes, you can see that if you follow his socials.”
Mark: “Yes, but he is also a bit like: yes, but we are having such a good time. With that party in Amsterdam…”
Yvonne: “Well, yes, they also do a lot for charities… What did you call that again? That you can’t say anything about that or something? Do you know what I mean? That you can’t say anything about that? Someone then goes to the hospital and they all make children happy and stuff. And you’re actually like… Is this for your image or… You know?”
‘that doesn’t count’
Bas is committed to the Princess Máxima Center. Mark: “Well, if you go to the hospital to make children happy and you put a camera on it, I don’t think it counts.”
Yvonne: “Ooh.”
Mark: “Yes, you go to the hospital and help children, because you want to.”
Yvonne: “It always feels so double when those people who do charities also film that. But yeah, anyway…”
