During the ceremonies surrounding the reopening of the Lisser Bridge between Lisserbroek and Lisse, a barrier from the renovated bridge pierced the windscreen of a coach this afternoon.
This is evident from photos of the incident in the hands of NH Nieuws. The coach involved had dropped off people for a tour that started near the bridge, a witness told NH News. When the bus driver wanted to drive off over the bridge, things went wrong. “When the traffic lights turned green, the bus pulled up, but then the barriers went down.”
Green
Also the local news platform Look at Liss has spoken to witnesses who say the traffic light was green when the barrier went down. It is not known what went wrong.
No one was injured. Because the bus passengers had disembarked shortly before, there was no one on the bus except for the driver. The driver was also unharmed. The fire brigade was called to remove the barrier from the coach. Due to the impact, the barrier is quite crooked.
Renovation
The Lisser Bridge was the closed for the past two weeks for all traffic. In that period, the renovation of the bridge was completed. Just like in January, motorists had to make a detour to reach the other side of the Ringvaart. Since the end of last year, there has been a pontoon bridge in the Ringvaart for cyclists. It has now been removed.
