Social commitment has its price. Nothing serious, for heaven’s sake, but in recent days Barcelona has discovered that by positioning itself in favor of Gay Pride Day it has irritated a part of its immense social base. The Camp Nou club was one of 10 in La Liga to have posted messages on their social networks in support of the LGBTQIA+ community party: in the two days of “activism” 9 accounts lost followers, only Las Palmas gained any. Barça’s Instagram account has more than 122 million followers, so the loss was relative: 439,661 followers in 48 hours. However, a significant figure if we take into account that in the previous week the same account had an average of 35,909 more followers per day. And that the increase is always constant, day after day.

The other Spanish clubs that sent messages on Pride day were Valencia, Athletic, Real Sociedad, Osasuna, Getafe, Celta, Mallorca, Alaves and Las Palmas. The top 8 lost between 2299 and 66 followers.
