Brazilian soccer star Malcom may move to the Russian national team, Russian website Champions news.
The 25-year-old forward has played the last four seasons at Zenit St. Petersburg. The club has said that he will receive Russian citizenship.
Malcom moved to Zenit in the summer of 2019 from FC Barcelona, who had spent a huge amount of money on him.
Barcelona bought the brass teenager for 40 million euros at the time from Bordeaux of the French league, but sold him on for the same price only a year later. He played only 15 league matches in the Spanish club and scored one goal in them.
Championat says that Malcom previously represented the Brazilian national team in his career, which would make it difficult for him to switch to the Russian shirt. However, national team appearances are not shown in the official statistics.
Along with Malcom, a brass colleague might be transferred to the Russian national team Claudinhowho also plays for Zenit.
Claudinho, 26, has spent almost his entire career in the Brazilian leagues. He was traded to Zenit in the summer of 2021. The price tag was 12 million euros.
So far, it is not known what Malcom and Claudinho’s own state of will is in terms of joining the Russian national team. The Russian media only speculates about it.
Head coach of the national team Andrei Gordeev however, spoke of female brass stars in an optimistic tone.
