Youssoufa Moukoko’s future at Borussia Dortmund is still unclear. While the negotiations about a possible extension at BVB are dragging on and no agreement has yet been reached, numerous clubs are already positioning themselves for a transfer. FC Barcelona is currently the main favourite. But Barca of all people is handicapped in the transfer window that is about to open.
The contractual factual situation at Youssoufa Moukoko is basically clear: the working paper of the offensive man, who has been playing for BVB since his youth, expires in the summer. Means: Moukoko can officially and easily negotiate with interested clubs from January.
According to reports, the 18-year-old has not yet decided whether he dares a new adventure or extends his contract with Borussia. According to media information, however, talks with the BVB bosses are stalling, so that a transfer in winter could also become an issue in order to generate a fee for the attacker for the last time.
This is where FC Barcelona could come into play, who are said to be the main prospects for Moukoko. And according to various reports, the player himself should also be able to imagine a move to Spain. But as the Spanish “Sport” reports, Barca is already in contact with Moukoko’s environment, but has made it clear to the advisors that a change in January for the Catalans is simply not affordable due to the salary limit imposed by LaLiga.
Meanwhile, Chelsea and Liverpool are said to be courting a transfer. The two top English clubs would have the means to tap Moukoko in the winter. According to the report, however, Barca have already informed Moukoko that there will definitely be an offer in the summer. Then the BVB youngster is available free of charge, which also means that the Spaniards could invest the money saved in a higher salary.
BVB: Barca expect Moukoko to make a decision soon
According to Spanish ‘Sport’, Barca remain optimistic about signing Moukoko after the season. However, it remains to be seen whether Barcelona can offer him the sporting leadership role he desires and sufficient playing time. With Raphina, Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati and Robert Lewandowski, the attack is well-manned barring an unexpected exit.
The Barca managers hope for clarity by mid-January at the latest, it is said. It is therefore assumed that Moukoko will either be extended shortly or actually join the top Spanish club in the summer. You wouldn’t believe that other interested parties would grab it in winter.
One thing is also clear to Barca: for the time being, Moukoko cannot reach the financial spheres that Chelsea or Liverpool can offer in terms of salary. “Sky” recently reported that the BVB youngster is demanding a basic salary of six million euros plus possible bonuses, while those responsible in Dortmund only offer him a basic salary of three million euros, which can increase to six million euros with bonuses.
