Many top clubs are interested in Borussia Dortmund’s goalscorer. Now Joan Laporta comments on advertising for Erling Haaland. The President of FC Barcelona denies speculation – and is more specific.
FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta has denied speculation about direct negotiations with BVB striker Erling Haaland. “We at Barça don’t negotiate with a player. When we negotiate, it’s with Borussia Dortmund,” the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” quoted the head of the top Spanish club as saying.
He was reacting to speculation in the Spanish media that coach Xavi Hernández could have talked about the Norwegian moving to FC Barcelona at a possible meeting with Haaland last Tuesday in Munich. Laporta stressed that he “doesn’t want to talk about players because anything I say could drive prices up”.
According to media reports, Haaland and his advisor Mino Raiola also have offers from Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and FC Bayern. There was no confirmation from the clubs for this speculation that had been circulating for weeks. The Norwegian national player is contractually bound to BVB until 2024, but could leave the runners-up in the Bundesliga this summer due to an exit clause for allegedly 75 million euros.
