For the summer blockbuster “Barbie” the actor and musician Ryan Gosling once again proved his skills as a singer. The Canadian contributed the song “I’m Just Ken” to the soundtrack of the comedy by director Greta Gerwig (“Lady Bird”). There is also a music video to go with it, in which Gosling mimes Barbie’s plastic friend of the same name, just like in the film.

The fact that Gosling has musical talent was not only demonstrated by the 42-year-old as the main actor in the musical “La La Land” (2016), but also with his indie rock band Dead Man’s Bones. With “I’m Just Ken”, Gosling now contributed another song for the “Barbie” soundtrack, which also features other artists such as Dua Lipa, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash and Billie Eilish . The patron of the entire project was star producer Mark Ronson, who was very enthusiastic about Ryan Gosling’s commitment.
“It was crazy,” Ronson told Variety magazine. “[Ryan Gosling ist] one of the big stars in this film and only had three hours […] Time to do his vocal recordings. He walked in and while he was warming up I was like, ‘This guy is going to rock this song!’ And of course he did,” said the Briton, explaining the working process with Gosling.
“Barbie” will be released in German cinemas on July 20th. In addition to Ryan Gosling, the cast also stars Margot Robbie (“I, Tonya”), Emma Mackey (“Sex Education”), Will Ferrell (“The Lego Movie”) and many more acting greats.
