The Barbara Dex Award was in 1997 and was given in the Netherlands by the Dutch fansite House of Eurovision. The website has the same idea as the name of our own Barbara Dex in 1993. In 2017 nam Songfestival.be de award over. The website has been tested in the previous year, so that it is made with the negative connotations that have been paired with the price. New award
The website wil dit jaar wel een nieuwe award in het leven roepen. “Het laatste wat we will, is mensen kwetsen. We will create an award that holds iets fourth in plaats van iets naar beneden.” There is no name for the new price on the website, but the concept is now duidelijk. Voortaan wil Songfestival.be een award uitreiken voor de most opmerkelijke outfit.
Last year the Barbara Dex Award went to Noorse zanger TIX. Hij is dus meteen also de laatste artists die de prijs in ontvangst may nemen. Tijdens zijn deelname van vorig jaar many hij op door de kettingen wararmee hij vast zat. There were also two large angels vleugels, white bones and glitter pack redelijk opvallend.
