Thanks to his winning goal, Yusuf Barasi was the celebrated man after the 1-2 victory of Jong AZ at VVV-Venlo. The striker of the Alkmaarders shot in the second half with a hard bang Jong AZ to the three points. “I said at halftime that it would be fine.”
Nineteen-year-old Barasi was allowed to go to the side immediately after his goal. “I actually wanted to play for ninety minutes. I asked the trainer after an hour of play if I could stand any longer. I knew it would be my last chance and luckily I grabbed it,” said the match winner afterwards.

The youth international of Turkey also saw that he and his teammates were not impressed by a full stadium De Koel. “We took it very maturely and dominated it. They hardly had any chances.”

Best of the season
Young AZ coach Maarten Martens thought that his team had played its best game of the season against VVV-Venlo so far. “I told the boys that we have linked very good field play to passion and struggle. They were not put off by an atmospheric Koel.”
