The President relaxed on the Spree. Day 2 of Barack Obama’s (61) visit to Berlin.

He was received with loud cheers. Sat down relaxed on a sofa. Cuddling talk with moderator Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (39).

To-go mug in hand, Obama chatted about climate change, his presidency and the challenges of global politics. The solution to many conflicts: women!

“It would be great if every country were ruled by women for two years, then the problems of this world would be solved in two years.” He never forgot well-placed punch lines: “Ask my wife Michelle, I’m wrong ten times a day.”

The tickets for the small talk cost between 83 and 550 euros in advance.

Obama said he enjoyed his time in Berlin more than usual. “I could do things that I couldn’t do as president. Yesterday I had dinner with an old friend.” He meant Angela Merkel, with whom he was at an Italian restaurant in Schöneberg.

On Wednesday we went at noon in the motorcade to the Chancellery. Olaf Scholz (SPD) received Obama for lunch. He stayed with the Federal Chancellor for around an hour, then it was back to the Adlon.

He’s going back to the USA on Thursday: “I’m looking forward to seeing my wife again.”
