Former US President Barack Obama traditionally reveals his personal favorites in the categories of music, film and books at the end of the year. The 62-year-old will also be presenting in one in 2023 Post on “X” again its compilation and announced its top 13 films.
Thrillers, documentaries and biopics in Obama’s program
He writes in advance: “Earlier this year, writers and actors went on strike to demand better working conditions and protective measures. “This has led to important changes that will change the industry for the better.” He then presents this year’s selection, starting with three works from “Higher Ground”, the production company he co-founded with his wife Michelle Obama. These include the thriller “Leave the World Behind,” the biopic “Rustin” and the documentary “American Symphony.”
The rest of the list includes works like Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” “BlackBerry,” which follows the rise of the eponymous cell phone brand, and Cannes’ Palme d’Or winner, “Anatomy of a Fall.” “The Holdovers” by Alexander Payne, “Monster” by Hirokazu Kore-eda and “American Fiction” by Cord Jefferson also made it among the chosen ones.
Addendum for another film
However, about a day after the announcement, Obama spoke up again in the comments to add a film to his compilation. He writes: “Update: I just saw ‘The Color Purple’ and thought it was great. I’m adding it to this list as one of my favorite films of the year.”
