Banksy and Rosa Mundi at Palazzo Donà dalle Rose in Venice until July 30th

fto a certain impression admire Banksy and Rosa Mundi between the private rooms and the walls of the Noble Floor of Palazzo Donà dalle Rose, in Venice. Among the portraits, for example, of Doge Leonardo Donà who fought and won the famous naval battle in 1571 on the waters of Lepanto.

Perhaps also because the two artists have in common the fact that they have never revealed their identity. It is therefore certainly a new and singular exhibition Banksy & Rosa Mundi: the bestiary in the rose garden which has been extended to July 30.

An insight into contemporary art

The exhibition offers a cross-section of contemporary art for a reflection on topics of great relevance worldwide, from war to immigration to poverty. But it also intertwines the techniques and aesthetics of the street artist and the visual artist.

If Banksy uses old walls and doors (which can be seen in the exhibition) and very rare pieces from Bristol where he was born (in the port of the English city you can still find, forgotten in an internal courtyard “The girl with a pearl earring”), Rosa Mundi works her works with recycled materials, glass and plastic, marble, wood, natural, vegetable and organic marine pigmentsthe.

Rosa Mundi, Banksy and the Doge’s Gallery

Banksy

Banksy and Rosa Mundi they are certainly among the absolute protagonists of the Venetian summer, as is the Doge’s Gallery in Palazzo Donà which hosts them and reveals its artistic treasures from the 16th to the 21st century to the world. Simultaneously the Donà dalle Rose Foundation also proposes “The embrace of emotions” by Cesare Catania. Vernissage on 30 June at 5.30pm.

The exhibition is a real magnifying glass on the artist’s poetics and on works of different nature – sculpture, painting, NFT – all connected by the conceptual fil rouge of a “democratic” art, usable freely and cleared by customs from the usual institutional places.

The other side of the Moon

As part of the Artist’s Residence Project, promoted and supported by the Donà dalle Rose Foundation, the artist will also aim to create the new collection “The other side of the Moon”, characterized by a strong contamination between the “Catania Technique” (based on the mix of silicones and acrylics), its typical perspective geometries and the use of materials found in the Lagoon.
