SpVgg Bayreuth had to accept a bitter home defeat on the 8th match day of the 3rd division. The newly promoted team lost 6-0 to 1. FC Saarbrücken and is still stuck deep in the bottom of the table.
It was nothing with the second home win for SpVgg Bayreuth: Already at half-time the Upper Franconia were behind 0:3 against 1. FC Saarbrücken, in the end it was a hearty 0:6 smack against the promotion candidates.
Game decided at half time
In the first 15 minutes, the home side were still good in the game – sometimes even the more active team. With increasing playing time, the guests from Saarland came into play better. With a brace, Sebastian Jacob (21st and 35th minute) gave 1. FC Saarbücken the lead. Shortly before the break, Boné Uaferro (44th) made it 3-0.
Bayreuth goalkeeper Kolbe with slapstick insert
Bayreuth tried to score the consolation goal, but Saarbrücken scored the goals. In the 51st minute the doorbell rang again in the Bayreuth goal – Marvin Cuni with the 4:0 for the guests. Only a little later Jacob made his triple pack perfect. He can also thank Sebastian Kolbe for the goal: The goalkeeper was actually able to bury the ball under himself, but the ball slipped out of his fingers and directly in front of Jacob’s feet. Shortly before the end, Biada scored to make it 6-0.
Only four points and four goals from eight games for Bayreuth – the Upper Franconia slipped to the penultimate place. On Sunday they could even take over the Red Lantern from Erzgebirge Aue (three points) if the Saxons score in the game against FSV Zwickau.
