Berlin and Brandenburg have to save BER from bankruptcy with billions. But the heavily indebted airport donated tickets for the “Brandenburg Ball” to its bosses for 3,640 euros.

It was the first big break in three years: Jazz trumpeter Till Brönner got the 484 guests excited at the Kongresshotel Potsdam. Celebrities such as Katarina Witt, Henry Maske, Frank Zander cavorted in the audience in tails and robes.

Right in the middle: BER boss Aletta Freifrau von Massenbach (53) and 19 airport colleagues. The bankrupt airport (4.3 billion euros in debt) had given its bosses table (270 euros) and promenade cards (160 euros). For 3640 euros.

In addition, BER paid 15,000 euros as a “premium sponsor”, Brandenburg’s government concedes at the request of the Free Voters. Paid for by our tax money. Although Massenbach collects 428,000 euros per year, the other two BER bosses each around 380,000. More than Chancellor Scholz!

“Another example of the self-service mentality in public companies,” scolds Free Voters Group Vice Matthias Stefke (58). “Like the RBB! In view of the horrendous sums of tax money, this cannot be justified.”

The explanation of the airport: It wanted to “make itself visible as an important transport infrastructure and attractive employer”. Working lunch instead of ball fun? No: the 20 BER employees paid their beverage bills privately.

Airport attendant Jörg Simon will not complain: He was also invited…
