A 53-year-old Groningen man has been arrested in ‘t Veld for fraud with payment products. The police arrested him red-handed after he tried to defraud an elderly woman from the municipality of Hollands Kroon for the umpteenth time.
Prior to the arrest, the elderly woman is approached by telephone by scammers pretending to be bank employees. After insisting with the woman, she transfers money to them several times.
In the trap
The woman eventually does not trust the matter and talks about it with people around her. These people then inform the police, who take action. When the fraudster contacts the woman again and says he wants to come over and collect her debit card, he is set up. The police are waiting for the Groningen man when he rings his victim’s doorbell.
Possible accomplices escape
