When a politician gets off a plane with a skull painted on it looks like a war effort – but in this case it’s harmless. Depeche Mode loaned Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel their “Memento Mori” plane to fly to the NATO summit in Vilnius. The characteristic skeleton head with the letters “DM – MM” is used as a logo on the band’s current tour.
The Foreign Minister of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn, and Defense Minister François Bausch were also on the plane. According to “RTL”, the reason for the unusual loan was the unavailability of military machines that would otherwise be intended for such business trips. The Depeche Mode aircraft is a Bombardier CRJ-200LR OY-CRJ.
This Wednesday (July 12) Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and colleagues are performing in Rome. It is not known whether they have a second plane or whether the Totenkopf plane is available again.
