Balmain is collaborating with Stranger Things

The hype surrounding “Stranger Things” continues months after the fourth season finale. Now the French luxury house Balmain is also announcing a collaboration with the popular Netflix series.

Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing is a big “Stranger Things” fan and has been following the show closely and was particularly excited by the show’s ’80s setting, the company said on Thursday. The designs of the collection play with a mix of colorful patterns, leggings and denim fabrics, reflecting the trends of the 80s and well-known motifs and quotations from the series. Balmain’s B-court sneaker has also been reimagined for the collaboration.

In the statement, Rousteing, who was born in 1985, emphasizes that the show’s fashions don’t reflect the style of his youth, but that it’s impossible not to admire the shows’ looks. “I’m not a child of that era, but anyone who has seen my Balmain catwalks knows I’ve always been fascinated by the era’s unique pop spirit. When Netflix asked me to create a special limited edition Balmain x Stranger Things collection, I jumped at it.”

The Netflix hit series Stranger Things has already collaborated with various fashion companies on several occasions, for example there was a Stranger Things collection for H&M and Vans sneakers. For Balmain, the collaboration is not the first collaboration with a pop culture phenomenon. The French brand recently worked on joint collections with Pokémon and Barbie.

The Balmain x Stranger Things collection will be available from November 6th in Balmain stores in Paris and Los Angeles as well as in the French brand’s online shop.
