A new language for Balenciaga

The new Gazar and the sculpture of lightness
Technical protagonist of the season is the Neo Gazarnew evolution of the fabric invented in 1958 by Cristóbal Balenciaga. Piccioli thought it keeping the double soul – a living and imperfect gauze coupled to a more fluid body – but adding a silk and wool lame wire that softens its rigidity. The result is a material capable of creating volumes and weightless structureperfect expression of the designer’s philosophy: building without forcing.

On the catwalk, the Sac-lress of 1957 opened the parade, reaffirming the symbolic value of female freedom: “That dress is so current and so significant, because it has freed women from their constraints“, Piccioli recalled. The collection alternates sculpture and daily clothes-t-shirts, chino, leather jackets-transformed into proportion exercises. Crop top and cut-out reveal flaps of skin with measured elegance, confirming a conscious femininity, never exhibited.

“The heartbeat is the rhythm we share, the beat that reminds us that we are human», Piccioli writes in the notes of the collection. “What he unites us defines us, what is universal becomes personal».
