Balenciaga opens couture boutique in Paris

Balenciaga opens a new couture store at 10 Avenue George V in Paris on Wednesday. It is the fashion house’s first public store to sell couture pieces directly, according to international media including Vogue Business and WWD.

The boutique will open after Balenciaga’s couture show, which takes place on the same day. Some of the pieces shown in the show can then be purchased directly in the shop. Prices range from 15,000 to 100,000 euros for clothes, bags cost between 8,500 and 15,000 euros and sunglasses are available from 3,500 euros. All products are limited edition and only available in boutique. Customers who buy a garment there can have it altered or personalized at the Balenciaga atelier, which has been in the same location but one floor up since last year.

According to Cédric Charbit, CEO of Balenciaga, the store’s intention is to bring couture more into the public eye, he said in an interview with Vogue Business.

The store is located in the building where fashion designer Cristobal Balenciaga created his own fashion house in 1937. The fashion house’s couture collections ended in 1968, four years before the designer’s death. The brand continued but only produced ready-to-wear collections by 2021. The haute couture line was revived just a year ago by designer Demna Gvasalia.

The boutique will be open after opening from Tuesday to Friday between 11am and 7pm and on Monday and Saturday by appointment.
