Leaders Bayer 04 rightly claim that the club has done an excellent job in the summer transfer market. But how do the signings made for 80.8 million euros, including those returning on loan, perform on the pitch and how often do they score compared to the other players who were in the squad before 2023/24? In this respect, the “Werkself” just missed out on the top three. As of today, Leverkusen have fielded eight new signings, who have scored 14 goals so far, accounting for 56 percent of all the club’s goals on the first eight matchdays. A good rate, which is, however, exceeded by a trio.

In addition to new purchases and loan returnees, the rating also includes professionals for whom a purchase option has been drawn. The best example is Stuttgart’s top snapper Serhou Guirassy, who catapulted VfB up the rankings – although not to the top. Eintracht Frankfurt is there. At the SGE, the established forces around Mario Götze are suffering from a lack of loading, so that so far it has mainly been necessary to fix the entrances.

Only one team from the upper house managed completely without a goal from a newcomer. And SC Freiburg, with just two freshly signed players, used by far the fewest new players of all Bundesliga clubs, which is also reflected in the ranking. In addition, the attacker Junior Adamu, who was signed from Salzburg for 6 million euros, only made five substitute appearances after an initial injury. Its importance is likely to increase as the season progresses.

2nd League: Hertha BSC with the highest rate of goals from new signings

In the 2nd league, Hertha BSC, a relegated team, dominates the rankings. For the capital city team, the new arrivals are responsible for almost all of the goals – around 95 percent. The “Old Lady” also used by far the most new players and returnees, which is due to an extremely large number of transfer movements as a result of an XXL upheaval. Striking: The top duo from Hamburg – consisting of FC St. Pauli and HSV – can rely entirely on the accuracy of established forces in front of the opposing goal. (Here is an overview of all new additions to the second division.)

How these numbers come about: The brown-whites have brought in two new attackers for the width in Andreas Albers and Simon Zoller, but they are not scoring goals and only play a minor role (Albers) or currently no role at all ( Zoller ). The Hamburg city rivals were upgraded in defense and midfield, while no changes were made in attack and Robert Glatzel and László Bénes were the main players.
