Bakery Kees Gutter with branches in Monnickendam, Volendam, Amsterdam-Noord, Zeeburg and two in Purmerend has filed for bankruptcy. The family business writes in a statement that the company was “no longer financially sound enough to have a good future”.
“It will come as a shock to many, we understand that. Believe us, every dime has been turned, every stone has been examined, every scenario has been devised. But this was the only possible outcome,” write owners Greetje and Els Gutter on the website.
It is still unclear what will happen now, according to its own words: “The curator will decide on that and we can therefore not answer any questions about it”, the text reads.
