Bagnaia records fourth MotoGP win of the season at Silverstone circuit | NOW

Francesco Bagnaia won the Grand Prix of Great Britain in MotoGP on Sunday. The Ducati driver recorded his fourth win of the season at the Silverstone circuit. Bo Bendsneyder has again taken points in the Moto2 with a tenth place.

It marked the second win in a row for Bagnaia, who triumphed in Assen six weeks ago. During the summer break, he was significantly less positive in the news. Bagnaia was involved in a car accident in Ibiza with too much alcohol in his body, in which no one was injured.

During the race at Silverstone, Bagnaia dealt with Maverick Viñales in the closing stages. The Spaniard appeared to have the speed to beat Bagnaia, but was sloppy and went wide on his best attempt. As a result, he immediately lost the lead to Bagnaia.

Fabio Quartararo, the French World Cup leader, had to go through a long lappenalty after an incident in Assen to settle for eighth place. His closest attacker, the Spaniard Aleix Espargaró, finished one place behind in ninth.

The win brought Bagnaia his total to 131 points. He is behind Espargaro (158 points) and Quartararo (180 points) in third place in the World Cup standings.

The championship continues in two weeks with the Austrian Grand Prix.

Points for Bendsneyder in Great Britain

Bendsneyder has again taken points in Moto2. The 23-year-old Rotterdammer finished in tenth place in the Great Britain Grand Prix, good for six points for the world championship.

Spaniard Augusto Fernández sped to victory at Silverstone by passing compatriot Alonso López on the final lap. Britain’s Jake Dixon finished third in front of his own audience. With his third consecutive victory, 24-year-old Fernández took first place in the World Cup standings alone, where he first had to share it with Celestino Vietti.

Bendsneyder had qualified seventh for the British GP, but dropped back after the start. The Rotterdammer still managed to finish in the top ten. Zonta van den Goorbergh, who started from 22nd place, went down after a few laps. The sixteen-year-old from Brabant is still waiting for his first World Cup points.
