Denise Betsema did not grab the day victory at the Superprestige Boom today, except for a hair. The cyclocross rider from Texel was trumped on photo finish by Aniek van Alphen. Due to Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado’s seventh place, Betsema is the new leader in the standings.

In the first three Superprestige races, it was always between Betsema and Alvarado. The first race was won by the Texel, after which Alvarado was the best the last two times. As a result, they shared the top of the standings with the same number of points.

Betsema suffered a flat rear tire in the fourth round, but was able to keep up with Van Alphen. In the last round it was between the two. The North Holland cyclo-cross rider continued to put pressure, but was just beaten in the sprint.

Betsema does not have much time to recover, because tomorrow there is another World Cup competition in Antwerp on the schedule.
