Jussi and Marjo Lampi enjoy themselves in Alavus. The peaceful environment has reduced the level of stress and the problems of the Korona period are also lagging behind.
Jussi and Marjo Lampi stand out clearly from the street view of Alavus. According to Jussi, Marjo in particular has enough acquaintances born in Alavus. The matter quickly becomes apparent as you walk to the shores of a nearby lake when Marjoa is invited to talk by her acquaintance years ago.
– That’s what I meant by my comment. Even business trips can stretch quite a bit when Marjo talks to people. I usually leave at the back left at that time in my own conditions, Jussi laughs as he directs the reporter in his wake to the side.
The tall man has also, of course, gotten his own attention in his new hometown, where he works on the payrolls of the city of Alavus as a cultural coordinator.
– After all, a few autographs and a photo have been requested. Overall, life has gone well and I have been well received.
From Helsinki to Alavus
The couple, who married more than three years ago, moved from Helsinki to Alavus last year. Marjo headed to her hometown already in July and Jussi in October when she started working as a cultural coordinator. Marjon had already taken Alavus to his brother’s wish, which was radically different from his job description as an entrepreneur in the sports industry.
– My brother has a wood company, and he needed help with his work. Since my own work was still quite scarce because of the corona, I decided to respond to the invitation.
Responding to the invitation meant Marjo stepped into the brand new boots, a cnc machine was waiting in the workshop.
– I basically started learning the work of a machine carpenter from a vertical forest with the guidance of my brother. Now I know the woodwork in a completely different way than ever before. In addition to my actual work, I have still visited the workshop as an emergency.
Jussi was immediately on the same lines as Marjo about the new job.
– In Ostrobothnia, it is clear that the family will not be left in need. When his brother needed help, I understood Marjo’s decision well.
Near the water
The move to the lakes took place in the couple’s mind long before heading to Alavus, as Jussi is from Lappajärvi, less than a hundred kilometers away.
– When the opportunity to move opened, we decided to make this decision. We also looked at the apartment in Lappajärvi, but since I got a job in Alavus, this was a better solution, Jussi says.
Downstairs, Jussi and Marjo live right in the city center in a rental apartment. The home is in a great location with a direct view of Lake Kirkkojärvi.
– The location is absolutely stunning. You can also take a dip almost directly from the front door, as the pier leaves the yard. I went swimming last autumn until the ice came, Marjo says.
Proximity to water is also important to Jussi.
– Growing up in Lappajärvi, the lake and water have always been of reassuring importance to me.
However, at least the couple has not yet gone fishing, although angling is planned for the summer. At the same time, Jussi bursts into laughter as he recalls a fishing trip.
– I recently played in the band Pink Flamingos, and we went to Mäntyharju to spend the weekend. The fish talk was loud, of course, yet the only prey was an undersized pike that had caught the lure out of its eye.

A new kind of peace
For the last less than a year, the couple has considered their happiness together the happiest. Yet the previous Korona period was painful.
– It was just hell. My nerves were really tense, as my mind was constantly pounding with worries about how bills would be handled and food procured. I remember watching at worst for three nights in the tube worrying about how we would survive, Jussi says.
Marjo sighs deeply, remembering Korona’s time.
– All the savings went, including those set aside for retirement, because we ran out of work on both sides of the wall.
He says he is experiencing a new kind of peace in Alavus.
– In Helsinki, even before the corona, I had to work quite wickedly to pay rent alone. My days were often such that I left for work in the morning and returned from nine in the evening. Now that I think about it, I don’t even understand how I dealt.
– Now the situation is different, I enjoy my work even more, because work and leisure are in a good relationship. Even more than five hundred ski kilometers were accumulated during the winter.
At the same time, Jussi gives an example of the amount of rent.
– When I paid the rent in Alavus for the first time through the online bank, I had to shout at Marjo, because there was still money left after the rent was paid.
– After moving, I also felt clearly more peaceful, and slept better than in Helsinki. There are certainly many reasons for this, but I believe that a more peaceful life already has a part to play.

A busy everyday life
Jussin washed as cultural coordinator will last until the current information until October.
– It would be great if the work continued after the one-year deadline, because I have enjoyed this wash. At the same time, it is a rare treat for those who have done the gig work of their lives.
– After the corona, it has been important for me to finally be able to do various events in my work. The amateur theater I run has also skimped on the same problems, but now the rehearsals are running again.
He is excited about the folk music event in Alavus in the last days of the month.
– This is an event where new and old folk music is heard. The whole thing ends with the worship of folk music, which is a completely new experience for myself. So you could think with humor that two days will be more entertaining and after that it will be a moment of remorse, Jussi laughs.
Marjo’s work takes place largely from home, where she has her own studio.
– I hold various exercise guidance sessions for my clients via online stream, because I am also a personal trainer. In addition, I also spend lessons in Alavus.

– I have been working at the summer theater every summer since 1987, except for one year, because I had to get money.

– The intention would be to continue living in the plains, although you can never be sure of the future. At the same time, you might think that it was time for us to come back, because I moved from the province in 1989 and Jussi in 1983, Marjo smiles.
