Kira Toussaint was unable to surprise during the final of the 50 meter backstroke. The swimmer from Assendelft finished eighth at the World Championships in Budapest. Toussaint was the last to touch in a time of 27.80 seconds.
By that time, Toussaint was almost half a second slower than winner Kylie Masse. The Canadian took the gold in a time of 27.31. The American Katharine Berkoff (27.39) and the French Analia Pigree (27.40) completed the podium.

Kamminga
Arno Kamminga was supposed to swim the semifinals of the 200-meter breaststroke today, but the Amsterdammer decided to withdraw. The 26-year-old swimmer, who previously won silver in the 100m breaststroke at the World Championshipsdid not feel fit enough to return to action after the series.
“I haven’t felt fit since Saturday, but I’ve been able to put that aside for my races so far,” he tells the NOS† “I am actually quite proud that I nevertheless managed to squeeze out two more medals: silver in the 100 meter breaststroke and yesterday with my teammates a beautiful bronze medal in the 4×100 mixed medley relay. But now I notice that the cake really is finished.”
