The bike marathon from Sanremo to Padua goes beyond 1200 kilometers of the route. Now in its twelfth edition, the event donated almost two million euros to the scientific research centers. All in the sign of Giovanni Celeghin, who disappeared for a tumor in 2011

June 4 – 18:36 – MILAN

It is not made of hairpin bends or slopes: the climb that Fabio Celeghin faces every year every year bears the name of his father Giovanni, an entrepreneur who passed away in 2011 due to a multifaceted glooblastoma. Since then, the bike has become a symbol of resistance, memory and struggle for research. “From Santo to Santo” is a solidarity marathon of over 1,200 km, departing from Sanremo and arrival in Padua, from 2 to 7 June. It is not a race, but a journey divided into 6 stages, to raise funds through the Giovanni Celeghin Foundation, with the aim of financing scientific projects to combat brain tumors and offer greater hopes for healing to patients and more serenity to their families.

a growing community

Born in 2012, the initiative, now in its twelfth edition, created a network of supporters, volunteers and enthusiasts. Each participant contributes with a gesture: a ride, a donation, a story. Together there is a movement of awareness and solidarity with a common destination: a future in which no one is only in the disease. And it is thanks to this spirit and the over 4 million euros donated and to the 21 projects financed in Italy and abroad, that the Foundation has become a point of reference for research.

The bicycle lesson

For Fabio Celeghin, after his father’s death, the bike has become a powerful metaphor: a mix between balance, strength and tenacity: “It is really a great commitment, I don’t deny it. Going by bike requires effort, but it is a effort that I choose, every time. Every pedaling becomes a concrete act to support a right cause, which deserves all my commitment”. For those who cannot do it today, every kilometer becomes an act of love and hope, even when the road is hard, even when going on is the only possible choice.
