Back causes problems: Werder striker Füllkrug fails against Bayern

Bremen have to travel to Munich without their most successful striker. In the home game against RB Leipzig, however, Füllkrug can probably play again.

Werder will have to do without Niclas Füllkrug in the away game against Bayern Munich (Tuesday, 8:30 p.m.). This was announced by Werder coach Ole Werner at the obligatory match day conference. “Fülle will not go to Munich. His back causes problems,” said Werner about the 29-year-old, who had already paused in the final training session.

In the 2-1 home win against Schalke 04, Füllkrug was substituted after just under an hour due to injury. As Werder announced after the game, the in-form Bremen player is suffering from a back injury. Werder won’t be without their top scorer for long though: “It’s nothing serious,” said Werner. Already in the home game against RB Leipzig (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.) “he will most likely be available again,” as the Bremen coach explained.

Füllkrug has already scored ten goals this season

With ten goals this season, Füllkrug is currently the second most successful goalscorer in the Bundesliga. For weeks he has been considered a candidate for a nomination for the German World Cup squad.
