back and nerves are bothering me, technique messed up

Veli-Matti “Aku” Partanen does not think he will be able to compete again this season.

Nerve pain in the back does not leave a walker Brother-Matti “Aku” from Parta in peace.

The problem started in early spring, when 30-year-old Partanen’s technique was changed. It made the nerve that goes over the sacrum in the back irritated.

– Due to the change, an area that is not normally subjected to such heavy stress became irritated. Based on the magnetic images, nothing is broken. The nerve pinches and hinders work, Partanen said on Sunday.

The back is still not completely symptom-free. It was visible in the 10 km race of the match against Sweden on Sunday.

On paper, Partanen was Sweden’s second strongest name in the competition Perseus Karlström after.

However, the Finn was only fourth and missed his own record by more than two minutes. The time was 41:05,67.

– I received two warnings early on. I lost the momentum. I finished and secured the points.

In addition to the back pain, the technology went haywire again.

– The technology was not relaxed. I couldn’t walk with the step I was supposed to. When there are pains, be careful instinctively.

– I have forgotten how to walk in my thirties.

Season over?

Technology has been the crowning glory of the seasoned race-goer all season.

In July, Partanen competed at the World Championships in Eugene with 35 kilometers, but was disqualified after the warning account was filled. He had to miss the European Championships and the Kaleva Championships due to a nervous problem.

– Winter is a long time for just training, so every missed race is sad. I have the ability to go to the games so that everyone is equally important. I don’t consider any race more trivial than another.

Partanen has been doing replacement workouts in training. He regularly sees a physiotherapist and a chiropractor.

The purpose is to strengthen the musculature of the back and make the problem-causing nerve more flexible than it is now.

The walker is still not sure if he will be able to compete again this season.

– There would be a competition in France at the end of September. If my back suddenly got better, I’d start competing. I don’t believe that. I think the season is here.

– It’s harder to go into the new season healthy when you take a vacation and transition period here.

In the Sweden match, Sweden’s Karlström won the men’s walk. Joni Hava was another Jerry Jokinen third.

In the women’s five-kilometer walk, Finland got a triple victory.
