The father of a baby who died under suspicious circumstances a month ago has been arrested. It concerns a 20-year-old man from Breda. The man is suspected of manslaughter.
On Friday, March 31, a seven-week-old baby from Breda died in the hospital in Rotterdam. The police took into account a crime, because the circumstances surrounding his death were suspicious.
The police therefore launched an investigation. For example, on April 1, a house on the Vestkant in Breda was searched for traces. Forensic Investigation searched for traces that would indicate that violence would have been used. Experts from the Netherlands Forensic Institute have also investigated the cause of death.
It is now believed that the baby died as a result of a crime. The baby’s father was arrested on Tuesday, May 2. He was brought before the examining magistrate on Monday. He has determined that he must be detained for two weeks.
Statement mother
The baby’s mother says in a statement that the past few weeks have been a horrible period for her and close family. She therefore asks everyone to respect the peace and privacy of her and her family. “Not in the least to give her daughter and son the opportunity to resume their lives as normally as possible and to focus step by step on their future again. After all, they still have a life ahead of them.” is in the statement.
