The women’s premier league has a new name sponsor in Azerion. The media and entertainment platform has signed a three-year agreement with the KNVB football association. For the past year and a half, the highest football class for women was still known as Pure Energie Eredivisie.
The KNVB states that it wants to increase the attention for women’s football by collaborating with Azerion. “Great strides have been made in recent years in further professionalizing the competition. It is now important that attention to the highest stage of Dutch club football for women will increase even more,” the football association said in a statement.
“Women’s football attracts a different target group compared to men’s football. It has proven itself as a family sport and is therefore excellently positioned to realize this ambition. Women’s football should become the ideal weekly family outing in every region, where everyone is welcome and included.”
