AZ waives expansion of ‘safe standing’ places in AFAS stadium

AZ is not going to offer new ‘safe standing’ places in the AFAS stadium. The football club sweeps the previously announced plans to expand the places off the table.

In a summary statement, the football club says that this decision has been taken following a number of investigations.

In 2020, AZ placed the first so-called safestanding places in section W and X1. These pitches became so popular that a waiting list was created.

Safestanding places are places in the stadium where you can both stand and sit with a special folding chair. The railing above prevents you from falling forward. This is particularly popular among fanatical supporters because they prefer to stand rather than sit.

AZ fans angry

Many AZ supporters are not happy with the decision and make a link with the disturbances from last Thursday. AZ was not yet available for further explanation of the decision.
