Mees Bakker will play for De Graafschap next season. The 21-year-old goalkeeper is rented out by AZ to the club from Doetinchem. De Heilooër still has a contract in Alkmaar until mid-2023, with the option for two more seasons. An option to purchase is included in the lease.
Bakker started playing football at HSV Heiloo and switched to the AZ youth academy at the age of eleven. He has been part of the A-selection since the summer of 2020. Two years earlier, he made his professional football debut at Jong AZ and so far played thirteen matches for the reserves. Until now, there has not been a match in the flagship of the Alkmaarders.
Little playing time
The talented goalkeeper could count on little playing time next season. AZ has with Peter Vindahl, Hobie Verhulst, Beau Reus and Sem Westerveld four goalkeepers are already in the main selection. Bee The Super Farmers Bakker meets a number of former AZ players. Mees Kaandorp, Robin Schouten and Rio Hillen will also play in blue and white next season.
