AZ player Tijjani Reijnders wants more: “Now at an age that I have to play everything”

Tijjani Reijnders has resolved to become a permanent fixture at AZ this season. The 23-year-old midfielder already wore the captain’s armband in the first exhibition game of the new season. “It does give a kind of responsibility,” he says after the practice win at PEC Zwolle (3-1).

Reijnders is thus rewarded for his services rendered in recent years. He appeared more and more often in the plans of trainer Pascal Jansen last season. “We must ensure that he continues to compete in midfield. Tijjani must make it as difficult as possible for the others. This gives his development a new impulse,” said the coach.

Interest from FC Twente

Reijnders himself also sees that he really needs to get some time to play this season. “For my development it is necessary to play many matches,” says the midfielder who is in the interest of FC Twente. “I am now at an age where I have to play a whole season. I look at that too. That is important to me.”
