AZ player Kees Smit does not keep his promise, but does win Youth League: “Fortunately another assist”

A great final and a perfect end to the Youth League for AZ Under 19. In the 5-0 victory over Hajduk Split, the only 17-year-old Kees Smit dominated midfield. The footballer from Heiloo couldn’t believe his luck after winning the title, but unfortunately had to admit that he had not been able to keep a promise to his girlfriend.

“I was not looking for a goal, but I would have liked to have scored one. I hope my girlfriend also likes an assist,” said Smit about the goal promised to his girlfriend.

A nice reward for Smit and his teammates was that Max Huiberts came into the dressing room afterwards and rewarded the Alkmaar talents with a nice prospect. “We can now all go to West Ham against AZ and there will probably be a ceremony in the stadium.”

Earlier in the day, NH Sport spoke with the family members of Kees Smit. Watch the video below.
