AZ is counting on Jesper Karlsson to stay on, is looking for a new keeper and is going to renovate

The transfer winter at AZ is going smoothly for the time being. With the arrival of Djordje Mihailovic, the Alkmaarders were already assured of an early acquisition, but they have to be careful not to lose Jesper Karlsson. “There is no interest now,” says football affairs director Max Huiberts about the Swedish attacker.

Karlsson has been linked to PSV since the departure of Cody Gakpo. According to Huiberts, it is difficult to unleash a supporting force at AZ in the current season. “It is not an issue at the moment. Jesper is not concerned with that at all.”

Keeper

Until the transfer window closes, Huiberts’ attention will mainly be on a new keeper. Sem Westerveld has sustained an injury and Peter Vindahl has been loaned out. That means that Hobie Verhulst is the only keeper left in the first. “Preferably one that stops balls,” says Max Huiberts, who is currently no busier than before.

Renovations

General Manager Robert Eenhoorn announced a number of changes at the New Year’s reception. The club will tackle the catering industry in the stadium’s circulation and ensure that fans have more food and drink options. In addition, the training center in Wijdewormer may be expanded with a rest and recovery room for the players.

Women football

In addition, AZ will take over women’s football from VV Alkmaar from next summer. Both clubs had already signed a letter of intent in the past. In order to guarantee football in Alkmaar and the surrounding area in the coming years, AZ is taking everything from VV Alkmaar, which has been regarded as a training club in women’s football in recent years.
