AZ Groeninge now has a ‘Covering place’
A head nurse of the hospital came up with the idea, because relatives felt the need to quietly retreat to a place close to the hospital. Chief nurse Koen Tousseyn: “The question actually came from employees or teams where an employee had died, from parents of star children, but also relatives of organ donors, who were actually looking for a place in the hospital to commemorate something or someone or to be able to leave something behind. to give something a place, literally.”
The ‘Koesterplaats’ is located behind AZ Groeninge, in the middle of greenery and yet close to the hospital. It consists of three circles as a sign of solidarity. People can write a message on a wooden disc and hang it in one of the trees around.
