AZ eliminated from Europe after defeat against Legia Warsaw

AZ has been eliminated from the Conference League. When they visited Legia Warsaw, they lost 2-0, meaning that the North Hollanders were eliminated from Europe.

Under rainy conditions, there were few opportunities in the first half hour. Jordy Clasie became dangerous with a shot in the short corner, but the Polish goalkeeper Tobiasz managed to save the shot.

Against the relationship

For half an hour nothing was wrong for AZ, but in the 34th minute things went wrong. Yuri Ribeiro headed in at the far post after keeper Owusu-Oduro stopped at a cross from the right. Offensively, AZ was unable to create anything in the first half and Pascal Jansen’s team went to the dressing room with a 1-0 deficit.

AZ became dangerous in the second half. David Moller Wolfe passed the ball nicely, but there was no AZ player to tap the ball in. The breaking point in the match was Bruno Martins Indi’s red card. After a strong tackle he had to leave the field immediately.

Powerless

After the red card, AZ was no longer able to create anything. Coach Pascal Jansen tried to bring some fire into the match through a number of substitutions. That had no results.

In the 83rd minute it was over for AZ. Blaz Kramer headed in the second Polish goal. With the 2-0 victory, Legia Warsaw continues in the Conference League and the European adventure for AZ is over.
