AZ has encountered a soap during a visit to Willem II. In Tilburg it became 2-2. As a result, FC Twente passes AZ and Pascal Jansen’s team drops to fifth place in the Eredivisie.
Dramatic start AZ
Very early in the game, AZ trailed 2-0. In the seventh minute it was Ché Nunnely who headed in the 1-0 and ten minutes later it was Elton Kabangu who scored the second goal of the evening face to face with AZ keeper Peter Vindahl.
AZ came back into the game in the 35th minute. Bruno Martins Indi simply tapped in from a corner. The Alkmaarders did push on in the rest of the first half, but they did not score.
In the injury time of the first half, AZ seemed to concede a penalty, but thanks to the VAR, referee Rob Dieperink had to change his decision.
AZ with opportunities
The second half in Tilburg started without too many details. Ýukinari Sugawara was close to equalizing, but his shot went over the crossbar. Dani de Wit was not lucky either. After a wonderful AZ attack, he chipped the ball on the post.
It was AZ with possession of the ball, but in the final phase it became almost no longer dangerous. In stoppage time, it was still a hit for AZ. Substitute Zakaria Aboukhlal headed in from a corner. No more goals were scored in the remainder of stoppage time.
