AZ Damiaan warns about coronavirus: ‘Virus is not gone’

The increase in corona figures is not a surprise, although it is a bit earlier than predicted by specialists. The hospitals are prepared, but still warn. “The virus has not gone away. We also hear that from colleagues in other hospitals. They are also confronted with more Covid patients,” explains Alain Antierens of AZ Damiaan in Ostend.

New vaccination campaign

The contamination figures will probably rise even further, especially towards the winter. A new vaccination campaign will start from the middle of next month. The situation in the hospitals is not alarming for the time being, although you never know. “As long as no variants of the virus appear, I think we can control it very well, but never say never with a virus. We have learned that over the past three years,” concludes Antierens.
