Myron van Brederode signed a new contract with AZ today. The winger is therefore fixed until the summer of 2027.
The 19-year-old footballer switched from AFC to AZ seven years ago. At the end of last season he made his debut in the main force against RKC Waalwijk. This season coach Pascal Jansen already called on Van Brederode 29 times, who scored three goals.
Especially at the beginning of the season, Van Brederode got a lot of playing time as a replacement for the injured Jesper Karlsson. He is ambitious for the future. “Personally, I hope I can score more goals, be important to the team and really make my breakthrough next season,” he said on his club’s website.
According to football affairs director Max Huiberts, Van Brederode has handed over his business card as Karlsson’s stand-in. “We saw that he very quickly reached the level that you would like to see from a player who is in the A-selection. Although we had already extended it to 2026 last year, this deserves even more”
On the other hand, Huiberts is not surprised about this. “We want boys who come from the youth academy to be good enough to compete in the first team level. Myron has now shown that, so that’s great.”
