On July 23, Slash, the guitarist for hard rock legends Guns N’ Roses, turned 58. His bandmate Axl Rose jumped at the chance and had a whole stadium sing “Happy Birthday” to Slash.
During her performance at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece, Rose sang the traditional song for Slash while an estimated 50,000 fans sang along.
On their official Twitter account, Guns N’ Roses posted a video of the birthday song to their bandmate after the concert on Sunday (July 23).
“Applause for the unique, legendary Slash! Happy F’N’ Birthday 🔥,” reads the title of the post, which has since been viewed by more than half a million people.
Slash thanked Twitter after the show with the following words: “Thanks Athens for one fantastic last Night the European tour! Her wait not fewer as unbelievable! It was a perfect farewell that we will always remember, Cheers!”

The gig in Greece marked the end of the European leg of the band’s 2023 world tour. They have already played twice in Greece, in 1993 and 2006, and have now returned to the Olympic Stadium in the Greek capital, Athens.
Guns N’ Roses kicked off their European tour in June and headlined this year’s Glastonbury Festival. On July 3rd they played their only Germany concert in Frankfurt’s Deutsche Band Park.
Furthermore, it was recently announced that Guns N’ Roses will soon release a new single. According to longtime executive producer Tom Mayhue, the band has new material that sounds similar to that of their successful 1987 debut album, Appetite For Destruction.
